Crowns and Rewards (Part 2)

Another crown that is mentioned is the “Crown of Life”, which is mentioned a couple of times in the New Testament.
“Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” (James 1:12)
This is an interesting verse to me because James is equating those who love the Lord to those who persevere under trial and are approved.  So the crown of life is promised to those who love the Lord.  We’ll talk about this more in our next post.

Again, the free grace argument states that just because one is a Christian does not necessarily mean that one will love the Lord. And, as long as such dichotomies can be conveniently employed, there will always be a way for them to avert any challenge to their system.

I guess what gets lost in their system, deny it though they do, is the whole idea of regeneration. They would rather dwell on the idea that a Christian can actually live as a "carnal Christian" than to accept that a Christian actually is a new creation, with new desires; a person who now knows God.

That system's existence seems to depend on, and rests squarely on, their brand of assurance and the whole Chafer inspired "carnal Christian" theory. Without either of these the whole system falls.

My two cents.

Yep, that's the underlying concern for me, what they're assurance is based on. With the reformed view, sanctification is assured. With the FG, it's up in the air.

The next step for this series is to show that there are only two groups of people in the end. There's one group who receives the reward and eternal life and the other group, which is consistently labeled with sins or as evil doers, they receive wrath.

We, as believers in Christ, are not destined for wrath, but salvation through Jesus Christ.

In Christ,
